Mary Flannery, Proprietor of Flannery's Hotel Galway
Mary Flannery, proprietor of Flannery's Hotel Galway , is one of Ireland's most experienced and enterprising hoteliers. She has been part of the hotel team since it was established by her late father Frank Flannery in 1969 and inherited his leadership qualities and passion for hospitality.
A graduate of the renowned Shannon College of Hotel Management, she has worked in some of the finest hotels in Switzerland and the USA where she experienced the high standards which are at the core of the success of Flannery's Hotel.
Working alongside her father, she championed the addition of a fourth floor to the hotel in 1996 and in more recent times she has been an inspirational leader of the management team, achieving the hotel's proud positioning as a ‘Home from Home' for its guests.
Siobhan Farragher, General Manager
Siobhan Farragher, our general manager, trained at the Catering School in Galway/Mayo Institute of Technology where she studied Hotel and Catering Management as well as completing a course in Personnel Management in 2000. Siobhan trained in the Ardilaun House Hotel, Galway, Tinakilly House Hotel in Wicklow and also travelled to Germany where she worked in Hotel Rensburg in North Germany. She worked in The Eyre Square Hotel and the Victoria Hotel in Galway City Centre in Head of Department roles before joining Flannery's Hotel as a duty manager in 1998. Two years later she was promoted to Deputy General Manager and in 2004 she accepted the post of General Manager. Siobhan's main focus is to always offer top class hospitality and the very best in customer service to all guests of the hotel. This she achieves through selecting and recruiting employees and department heads who match the hotel's welcoming culture. Siobhan has been leader of the hotel's dedicated team which has won two Best Western Hotel Awards, The Quality Employer Award and Bord Bia Awards.
Mike Lynn, Executive Chef
Mike Lynn, our Executive Chef, worked in some of the most renowned kitchens in Ireland and London before returning to Galway in 1969 to join the opening team at Flannerys Hotel. His dedication and skill led to rapid promotion and his appointment to the role of Head Chef in 1977. He now fills with distinction, the role of executive chef which involves the management of all menu planning and devising systems which guarantee that every dish of every meal created in the kitchen is cooked, presented and served to the highest standards of excellence...
John Everard, Head Chef
John Everard, our head chef, graduated from Cork Institute of Technology in 1999 and went on to work in quality hotels and restaurants in Cork including Barleycove Beach Hotel near Mizen Head in West Cork, the five Star Hayfield Manor Hotel and Flemings Fine Dining Restaurant in Cork City. From there John moved to Killarney where he worked in the five star Aghadoe Heights Hotel prior to moving to, and settling in Galway City working at the award winning Park House Hotel before he joined the Flannery’s Hotel team.
Michelle O'Connor, Reservations Manager
Michelle O'Connor, our reservations manager studied Front Office and Business Management in GMIT. She joined the Flannery's Hotel team in 1999 as a receptionist where she gained extensive experience in all areas of front office operations. In 2001 Michelle moved to the Merriman Hotel in Kinvara where she worked as Front Office and Accounts Manager before returning to us once again in 2003 when she became involved in setting up our Reservations Office. She now oversees all our hotel bookings and also has responsibility for all the Sales and Marketing activities of our hotel.
Rod McCullough, Deputy General Manager
Rod McCullough, our deputy general manager, joined the team in 1999 where he was employed as the Bars Manager. He had built up extensive experience in Bars and Hotels in County Clare and County Galway. In 2007 Rod was promoted to the post of Deputy General Manager. He has a very keen eye for attention to detail and although he is now a member of the senior management team he always keeps an eagle eye on the bars and is always delighted to engage with guests for a little bit of Irish Banter and Craic.
Bernie O'Loughlin, Laundry Manager
Bernie O'Loughlin, our laundry manager, joined the room's division department at Flannery's Hotel in 2004 and after a couple of years was given the responsibility of managing our Laundry and Linens department. Bernie and her team are responsible for ensuring that all bedrooms are maintained to a high standard and they make sure that each guest receives fluffy white towels and crisp freshly ironed linens.
